Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia, which is a consequence of a defect in insulin secretion or insulin action, or both. Chronic hyperglycemia in diabetes mellitus leads to damage to various organ systems, in particular, the eyes, kidneys, nervous system, heart and blood vessels. 90% of the disease is type 2 diabetes, which indicates the pandemic nature of its spread.
